TREE PLANTATION DRIVE
BHAVNAGAR, MARCH 18: Our school organized a 'Tree Plantation Drive' yesterday in the school playground. The event was held to create environmental awareness among students.

The program was inaugurated by the Principal. Around 100 saplings were planted by the students of Std 9. Each student took an oath to protect the trees.

The Forest Officer was invited as the Chief Guest. He explained the importance of forests. The drive ended with a small snack distribution.

Timber is used to build houses and make furniture. Paper is also made from the pulp of trees. We get many medicines from the fruits, leaves, and roots of trees. Trees are useful in curing many diseases. Birds build their nests in trees. Even animals depend on trees for their food. Trees give us cool shade. People often rest under trees during hot days. Trees make our surroundings beautiful. They keep the environment clean and purify the air. Trees attract rain clouds. Without trees, there would be less rain. They prevent soil erosion by holding the soil with their roots. Trees are our natural wealth. They give us life and support many living beings. Therefore, we must not cut down trees. Instead, we should plant more trees and protect them.
